Clarity Quest

Unlock your potential

Stuck in a pretty good life.

Your work gets done, your diary fills, the years pass, and none of it is aimed at anything.

A guided process for getting unstuck, gaining clarity, and designing the next chapter of your life. Seven weeks is how it starts, and the open day is one free hour to see it before you decide anything.

What the Clarity Quest does

It walks you through the questions you have been going round rather than through. What do you actually want? Why that, and not the answer you give other people? What has been stopping you? And what is it already costing you to leave it where it is?

You take those questions in order, one a week, with a group beside you and a coach who will ask you what you decided last Tuesday. You finish with your own answers written down, and a next move you have committed to out loud.

What people wrote before the last open day

Before the last open days I asked everyone who registered one question: where are you now? This is what some of them wrote.

“In a successful job but lacking motivation and goals.”

“Great position at work but not feeling fulfilled.”

“I am at a dead end job that pays well.”

“I feel like I am in the middle of my life and I am not sure where I am heading.”

“I feel a little stuck and not sure where to next.”

“I am both motivated and unmotivated at the same time.”

“I’m stuck. I’m bored. I’m frozen. I want a purpose again.”

And when I asked what they most wanted to avoid, one of them wrote: “Feeling the same way I’m feeling now in 5 years.”

If one of those could have been yours, the open day is for you.

You have known for a while.

You can explain your own patterns better than anybody around you. You have read the books, made the plan, and said the thing out loud more than once.

You have probably tried the obvious things too: the to-do lists and the habit trackers, the year plan you did not keep to, a coach who did not fit, and doing it on your own.

And here you are, another year on, in the same place and doing the same thing.

Seven weeks is long enough to change that and short enough to finish. One hour a week, in a group, working on your own life rather than on theory.

How it works

  1. 1Come to the free open day on Tuesday 13 October, 08:00 to 09:00. Ask everything you want and find out exactly what you would be joining, before you commit to anything.
  2. 2The first session is Tuesday 20 October, 08:00 to 09:00.
  3. 3Group coaching every Tuesday morning, 08:00 to 09:00, for seven weeks.
  4. 4Reflection questions and homework between sessions. It is all about you, no theory and no fluff.
  5. 5Access to the programme on the Get Clarity platform.
  6. 6A chance to be coached, and to upgrade your answers, every single week.

What we cover

Week one

Desire: reclaiming your inner compass

Many adults do not know what they want. They know what is expected of them, what will keep the peace, and what will not embarrass them. This week guides you to stop outsourcing your direction and take responsibility for naming your own desires.

Week two

Motivation: understanding your true drivers

People chase things for belonging, safety, significance, relief or approval, often without knowing it. This week explores the emotional engines beneath your goals, so you can see the deeper needs and fears shaping your behaviour.

Week three

Resistance: meeting the part of you that blocks progress

You get stuck because you have competing commitments, fear-driven beliefs and survival strategies running in the background. This week helps you surface the identities, habits and protective patterns that slow you down.

Week four

Impact: preparing for the consequences of growth

Getting what you want has a cost. This week helps you understand the ripple effects of pursuing your wants, and how to anticipate the emotional, relational and practical consequences, so they do not blindside you.

Week five

Loss: facing the price of staying the same

People underestimate the cost of inaction. This week helps you explore what your life looks like if nothing changes, and to see that staying where you are is a choice with consequences.

Week six

Effort: taking ownership of the hard work ahead

Every desire has a price tag. This week helps you identify the specific actions, sacrifices and disciplines required to bring your vision to life. This is where confidence grows, because confidence is the by-product of keeping promises to yourself.

Week seven

Surrender: cutting the dead weight that keeps you stuck

Letting go is harder than taking something on. This week helps you deal with the patterns, habits, distractions, roles and emotional debts you can no longer afford: disappointing people on purpose, setting boundaries, and letting go of versions of yourself that have had their turn.

Why people join

“There was a lack of energy, a lack of purpose, and a lack of a plan around what I want. And even not sure about what I want, which sounds so simple and so stupid.”

DannyHusband, business owner, 40

“I thought it was mostly my career causing this stuck feeling. But as is the nature of quicksand, it had sucked in all areas of my life.”

Lee-AnnHer relationships, her family, her health

“It felt like I was floating through life, letting life happen to me instead of living a life with purpose.”

JulianOverwhelmed, and unable to decide

“Professionally it seemed like everything was going according to script, but something felt missing.”

GeraldNothing wrong, and something missing

“Therapy helped me address my past, but I needed to figure out my future.”

NelmarieIn Amsterdam, straight after finishing therapy

And in their own words, on camera:

“I felt like I was operating at like 60% capacity. It felt like I still had 40 to give, but I couldn’t tap into it.”

This is made for you if

Who you will be working with

Francois Esterhuizen

I am Francois Esterhuizen, a coach in Stellenbosch. I work with people who can feel there is more in them than they are getting to, and cannot work out what is in the way, because I spent years being one of them.

I wrote The Empowering Truth of Responsibility and 10 Habits of Happy Relationships. I teach Personal Growth Weekly every Wednesday morning and I run the Clarity Quest.

Expect a working morning. I will help you find the belief that is in the way, and before we finish I will ask you what you are going to do about it.

What you get

Common excuses to rather stay stuck

I do not have the time.

You are right that you do not have a spare morning. Nobody does. This is 08:00 to 09:00, before the working day starts, one hour a week for seven weeks. But look at what the excuse is protecting. A week can be completely full and a year can still be empty, and that happens when nothing in the week belongs to what you actually want. That is the thing we work on.

I cannot justify the money right now.

Then do not justify it yet. The open day costs nothing and you decide afterwards with the numbers in front of you. The seven weeks are R5,300 paid once, or two payments of R2,950. Paying once saves you R600. If that is not the right spend for you this term, tell me and I will not chase you. I would rather you came to the free hour and said no than joined and resented it.

I have read the books and done the courses. Nothing changed.

That is the one I hear most, and it is not a failure of the books. Knowledge is not learning. Doing is learning. Reading happens in your head and nothing in your week finds out about it. The seven weeks run the other way round: you decide what you want, you write it down, then one thing changes in your week, with people who will ask you about it next Tuesday.

I am not sure this will work for me.

You should not be sure. You have not seen it yet. That is what the open day is for: one free hour where you watch how it runs, hear from people who have done it, and ask me the question you are actually asking. And if you do join and the first session tells you it is not for you, say so before the second one and I refund everything.

My situation is more complicated than that.

It might be. More often it is not, and I say that with respect. I tell the people in my groups that they are unfortunately normal, and it lands as relief every time. Carrying it on your own is what makes it feel rare, because a pattern you never say out loud never gets corrected.

I should be able to work this out on my own.

You probably could, eventually. The reason it has not happened yet is not that you lack the ability, because you clearly do not. It is that the life you are good at living keeps pulling you back onto its own track, and there is nobody whose job it is to ask what you decided last week. That is what the group is for.

Next year is better. I will do it then.

Later has no date on it. That is the whole trouble with later. Meanwhile the default future, the one you are already heading towards without having chosen it, carries on arriving on time. This has dates: the free hour is Tuesday 13 October, and the seven Tuesdays start on 20 October.

Nothing is actually wrong with my life, so this is not really for me.

This is built for exactly that person. If something were badly wrong you would already be dealing with it, because pain forces your hand. The harder position is the one where everything is fine, nothing hurts enough to make you move, and the year closes roughly the way it opened. You do not have to earn your way in with a crisis.

Questions people ask

What if I miss a Tuesday?

Every session is recorded and the recording goes to the whole group, so a week you cannot make does not put you behind. Come to as many live as you can, because being in the room is where the coaching happens, and catch up on the one you missed.

I am not in South Africa. Does the time work?

It is online on Zoom, so where you are does not matter. The hour is 08:00 South African time, which is 07:00 in the UK and 08:00 in central Europe. European clocks go back on 25 October, so from the second session onwards it is an hour earlier in both. One of the people in the videos above did the whole thing from Amsterdam. If you are somewhere that makes it impossible, tell me before you pay and I will say so honestly.

Do I have to talk?

No. You can come and listen for all seven weeks and still get what you came for. The people who put their hand up tend to get more out of it, and nobody is put on the spot.

What if I cannot pay it all at once?

There are two payments of R2,950. If that still does not work, WhatsApp me on 082 444 1831 and we will sort something out. I would rather have you in the room than have you miss it over the shape of the payment.

What happens after the seven weeks?

The last session is an invitation to carry on with monthly coaching, for anyone who wants to keep going. It is an invitation, not the point. The seven weeks stand on their own and you can stop there.
